WIXOM , MI - On October 5-6, Methods Machine Tools hosted a grand opening celebration at its new Michigan Tech Center in Wixom. In addition to complimentary food and beverages, customers were treated to demonstrations of 20 of the world's most productive machine tools, including machining centers, turning centers, electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment, and robotic automation.

The new 36,000-square-foot facility houses a 6,000-square-foot showroom, an applications-engineering support staff, regional field service and training technicians, and a spare parts inventory. Located at 50531 Varsity Court , the tech center positions Methods, a national supplier of precision machine tools, to better serve the automotive industry, its suppliers, and other Midwest machine shops with advanced high-performance metalcutting and moldmaking machinery. In their presentation at the opening, Methods applications engineers stressed the speed and productivity of the company's machines — features that American producers will need to compete with low-cost foreign shops.

“Many U.S. companies have become disenchanted with the poor quality and long turnaround times associated with offshore manufacturing, and more and more of them are moving their manufacturing back to the United States ,” said Bryon Deysher, President of Methods. “But, to keep costs down, they'll need to find ways to produce parts faster and with less labor. Methods can help with both machines and automation.”
