Forty-one people, representing twenty-one companies in six states, attended a Productivity Improvement Day on April 29, 2009 at the Partners in THINC facility in Charlotte, NC, hosted by Morris South and Partners in THINC.
Multi-tasking machining was the focus of the day and participants were able to see a unique exhibition of an Okuma MULTUS-B300W machine in action. The demonstration consisted of a multi-media presentation identifying the time and cost saving benefits of multi-tasking as well as actual parts cutting, including projected screen shots of the control panel output.
Attendee Ron Barrette from Hartness International stated that he attends events at Partners in THINC because he is, “looking for solutions to different machine tool problems”. He states “Every time we come to one of these we learn something new.”
In addition to viewing the multi-tasking demonstration, attendees were able to meet with multiple vendors in the same location and discuss how the components could work together to improve productivity in their shops.
