The VTM-1200YB 5-axis vertical multi-tasking machine enables turning of relatively large, complex parts and process-intensive machining along with 5-axis multi-tasking to achieve high production efficiency. Using the Thermo-Friendly Concept, high machining accuracy with machining dimensional change over time of less than 20 µm is achieved (actual results). Machining capacity is enhanced to outside diameter cutting of 6.5mm2 and milling removal rate of 1,003cm3 per minute (both with S45C). Combining improved travel speed and better operability using collision-free machining and the Collision Avoidance System, the VTM-1200YB contributes to both greater productivity improvements and reductions in cost.
According to a press release from Okuma, the VTM-1200YB machine received one of the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun’s (Business & Technology Daily News) 2010 Best 10 New Products Awards. These awards are given to selected products for their contributions to the development of manufacturing and strengthening of Japan’s international competitiveness. Winners are chosen from among all products developed and in practical use in a given year.
