Baldor Electric Company, Fort Smith, Arkansas based manufacturer of energy saving industrial electric motors, mechanical power transmission products, drives and generators, introduces a new comprehensive service to identify energy saving opportunities for manufacturers eager to improve their bottom line.
Using state of the art data collection equipment and software, Baldor’s Installed Based Evaluation (IBE) specialists perform a survey of motors and mechanical products in operation and also from spare inventory. The data is analyzed to produce a comprehensive report with recommendations for immediate actions, plus long term strategies that will lead to significant energy savings.
Electric motors account for over 25% of total U.S. energy use, and motorized equipment accounts for 64% of the electricity U.S. manufacturers consume. By identifying old, inefficient motors and replacing them with BaldorÏReliance Super-E premium efficient designs, adding adjustable speed drives and more efficient mechanical power transmission products, companies can drastically cut their energy consumption. With current utility rebates available in many markets, and the upcoming change in federal minimum efficiency requirements in 2010 (Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007), it is the perfect time for system upgrades.
Beyond energy savings, an IBE can also provide the end-user the framework for a motor management plan, and Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) initiative. The evaluation helps maintenance, operations, and procurement personnel plan preventive maintenance programs that will increase uptime and productivity.
