Every five to seven years, a person using a pacemaker is forced to undergo an expensive surgery just to replace an expiring battery, but new studies show that could change.
According to early studies from the University of Michigan's Department of Aerospace Engineering,a beating heart could generate enough electricity to power a pacemaker, eliminating the need for battery-replacement surgery.
Researchers tested a device that runs on the electrical charge generated from motion, according to a study released at the annual American Heart Association conference.
