With continued expansion of its Orthopaedic Instrument Global Design Center, Pierceton, IN-based Paragon Medical plans to invest in a bio-skills lab on its current campus just east of Warsaw.
This new 2010 initiative was accelerated in direct support of the recent formation of OrthoWorx, a Warsaw, IN-based industry, community and education initiative established to advance and support growth and innovation within the region's globally significant orthopedics device sector. OrthoWorx was established in September by BioCrossroads, Indiana’s initiative to grow, advance and invest in the life sciences. One of the key initiatives under OrthoWorx is talent attraction and workforce development. Paragon’s bio-skills lab can play a major role in achieving these goals.
In September, BioCrossroads released a report titled, “Warsaw, Indiana: The Orthopaedics Capital of the World”. The group developed a detailed study of Indiana’s remarkable achievements and potential for growth in the global orthopaedic device sector. The report specifically provided “an overview, analysis and blueprint for future industry and community growth”.
Warsaw is an expanding center of innovation and R&D activity and one of the key efforts outlined in the report was the need for technical support services. Paragon Medical immediately identified with the need and plans to respond by providing facilities that companies may utilize to perform their necessary cadaver lab studies and testing evaluations. CEO and founder of Paragon Medical, Tobias Buck states, “Capabilities like this makes sense near Warsaw and is a natural expansion of our Global Design Center. We are pursuing it to meet the needs of our clients while ensuring we do our part to protect the livelihood Orthopaedics has afforded this community”. Plans are commencing and should be finalized by end of Q1 2010.
