Portable Therapeutix officials announced the introduction of its first product, Squid – an innovative cold compression therapy device for the treatment of joint or muscle pain. Bleck Design Group, a product design and development firm based in the greater Boston area, collaborated with Portable Therapeutix to turn their proprietary technology into a marketable product.
Dr. Shai Schubert, Chief Scientific Officer at Portable Therapeutix asked Bleck Design Group to help him create a new product using his patented sequential compression wrap technology. Unlike existing cold compression technology, this device is simple, easy-to-use and provides the highest level of performance, comfort, and efficacy for dancers, musicians, athletes, and arthritis sufferers. Bleck Design Group provided a complete set of startup company product development services, including: concept development, industrial design, engineering, manufacturing selection, and FDA application support.
“This project is an excellent example of how we work as a startup’s virtual product development team to commercialize their cutting-edge technology. We collaborated with their management, scientists and athletic trainers to create a compelling design by optimizing the product’s ergonomics for patient comfort and clinical results. The result is an easy-to-use and highly effective product with the shortest treatment time available on the market,” explains Jim Bleck, Bleck Design Group president.
