A team of researchers from Precision Coating Co. Inc. have successfully developed a next generation PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coating application technology that achieves industry-first tolerances of ±0.0001” per surface on medical device guidewires. Operation of the advanced coating system is in a new, dedicated expansion to Precision Coating’s medical device coating facility that opened in the fall of 2010.
“In order to stay ahead of the medical industry’s tightening PTFE coating requirements, our team developed and deployed a state-of-the-art coating system to achieve the tightest tolerance capability, while doubling our production capacity. In addition, the system represents an investment in our relationships with medical device customers, as we can now provide a roadmap to meet their evolving strategic needs,” according to Robert DeAngelis, president, Precision Coating.
