About the presentation
Water scarcity, strict sustainability initiatives, and the need for operating cost reductions continue to put pressure on producers to lower water consumption and sewer/wastewater discharge. This presentation shares ways manufacturers and commercial operations use the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and digital transformation tools and methods to eliminate water waste and leaks throughout their production plants, reduce operational water use and operational costs across their plants, reduce their sewer and wastewater discharge, and, in the end, impact a company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) targets. The session is intended to educate executives and plant personnel on how to affordably eliminate water waste and leaks within the four walls of the plant, quickly reduce operational water use and better manage water-related risks at the plant level, and significantly impact corporate ESG targets.

About the company
Our objective was to reduce the impact of unnecessary water use and contamination on a wastewater treatment plant and the environment. It didn’t take long to realize the real problems were inside the buildings. We needed a way to monitor water use and understand its operation in real-time before we could resolve water issues, but this proved impossible when so much of the system was hidden and out-of-sight. The seed of the big idea was born. Using advanced IIoT concepts as the foundation, we tested prototypes at several locations. Success followed. Every minute of every day our technology monitors and informs operations staff of the nature and location of water use issues, then guides them to resolve concerns before they become big problems. With Apana, operators have valuable data to review, allowing them to reduce water use and bank savings.
