Schunk introduces the ROTA NCR 6-jaw chuck. The ROTA NCR 6-Jaw Chuck clamps rings, housings, and thin-walled workpieces that are highly deformable providing maximum clamping force. The ROTA NCR consists of a central chuck piston, which supports three inner pendulums that are evenly arranged at a 120° angle. Each pendulum works in conjunction with three pairs of base jaws resulting in 6-point contact. With clamping force points being aligned towards the chuck center of rotation, even non-machined surfaces can be centered without deformation of the workpiece, and the chuck adjusts to the raw part.
Instead of costly system jaws and special solutions, conventional standard jaws can be used on the jaw interface. Therefore, no cost and time-intensive special solutions are necessary, and flexibility is ensured. Moreover, the top jaws are considerably lighter than pendulum jaws, and the influences of the centrifugal forces are minimized.
With sealing against contamination, optimized greasing system, compensating to concentric clamping, and the ability of media feed through, Schunk’s ROTA NCR chuck can be used on virtually any turning application.
Schunk has now standardized the sizes of the ROTA NCR with diameters of up to 1,200mm.
