Seco officials hvae announced the launch of a new mobile-friendly website that assists manufacturers in selecting the right Duratomic insert for turning applications in steels, stainless steels and cast irons. After inputting information on the material being cut, type of application and desired insert shape and grade, visitors to the site are able to request a free sample insert matched to their specific needs. The website is located at http://duratomic.secotools.com.
“We featured an initial version of the Duratomic insert selection tool in our booth at IMTS 2012 and the response from visitors was very enthusiastic,” said Tim Aydt, Seco Product Manager – ISO Turning. “This new mobile site takes things a step further, making it extremely easy for manufacturers to select an insert, and then request a free sample that will let them see how it performs in their actual application.”
The inserts featured on the new site incorporate Seco’s unique Duratomic coating technology, a process that manipulates oxygen and aluminum atoms to optimize the insert surface for specific application areas. This results in an ideal balance of hardness and toughness, allowing for improved productivity, surface finish, tool life and overall cutting capabilities.
The new insert selection tool is accessible from any web browser by visiting http://duratomic.secotools.com, but is specifically optimized for smart phones to ensure maximum accessibility and user friendliness.
