3M Co. has introduced an electronic stethoscope that uses Bluetooth wireless technology.
3M partnered with Zargis Medical Corp., based in Princeton, N.J., on the 3M Littmann Electronic Stethoscope. The device, developed by 3M Health Care, uses Bluetooth technology to wirelessly transfer body sounds, such as those from the heart and lungs, to software for further analysis.
“The introduction of the Littmann [stethoscope] will help enhance clinicians’ natural abilities and enable health care providers to confirm diagnoses and more easily gather a second opinion from colleagues,” says Warren Wasescha, new-products marketing manager for 3M Health Care.
