Part Complexity is No Issue

New Mori Seiki Dura Vertical 5100 5-axis mill adds to the advanced machining processes available from Stock Drive Products.

Stock Drive Products officials are proud to announce the addition of the Mori Seiki Dura Vertical 5100 5-axis mill to their advanced line of machining centers. In addition to the standard X-Y-Z axis, the machine features a rotating fourth axis, which can itself turn angularly about a fifth axis. All five of these can move simultaneously to perform intricate operations on a part, creating whatever geometry is necessary. SDP/SI’s patented Fairloc hub is one such part; the countersink, tapped hole, and two angular cuts are all made on this one machine.

The number of different parts the 5-axis mill can create is vast, thanks to the use of more than 1,500 vices. The vices are designed to hold the stock in place while it is being cut, based on its size and shape. Not only do the vices support large quantities in a single run, but they are adjustable in the sense that, if a similar part needs to be made, a new vice is not required. The vice already in place can be adjusted accordingly to make the necessary changes to the part. This further increases the output of the machine by decreasing setup time.

SDP/SI is a leading manufacturer of small mechanical components, servicing a wide variety of aerospace, medical, and commercial industries for more than 50 years. Quotes, online orders, and 3D CAD Models are available on an updated estore at www.sdp-si.com/estore.
