Syensqo’s Eviva Polysulfone (PSU) has been selected by BIOTRONIK, a global leader in medical technology, for use in the header of its latest Amvia Sky pacemaker models. Eviva PSU was chosen thanks to its outstanding biocompatibility, enabling indefinite implantation inside the human body, and its exceptional transparency, which supports precise electrode placement during surgical implantation.
Beyond transparency, Eviva PSU offers excellent mechanical strength and processability, allowing it to be molded into the intricate components required for pacemaker headers. It is manufactured at Syensqo’s ISO 13485 certified Alpharetta, Georgia site, with processes validated for medical applications and testing conducted in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
The application of Eviva PSU in pacemakers reflects a broader trend toward miniaturization, longevity, and remote monitoring in cardiac devices. The material also shows potential in neurostimulation devices, such as brain stimulators.
BIOTRONIK’s selection of Eviva PSU underscores Syensqo’s commitment to supporting medical device innovation with high-performance materials.
