The biennial show, also called the Taipei International Machine Tool Show, marked its 15th cycle by breaking its own record in the numbers of exhibitors and booths. Altogether there were 928 exhibitors (from 20 countries) using 5,152 booths across a 90,000m2 show space.
This year’s expansion of TIMTOS let it overtake JIMTOF (Japan International Machine Tool Fair), establishing the Taipei show as the second-largest machine tool exhibition in Asia.
The TAITRA/TAMI-organized TIMTOS 2011 not only offeres visitors a great opportunity to see various new products at one time across Exhibition Halls 1, 2, and 3 of Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) and the NANGANG Exhibition Hall, but also provided them a communication platform for the latest industry and market trends, new technologies, and new information.

More than 20 Professional Seminars Traced the Trends
During the exhibition, the organizers TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council and TAMI (Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry) teamed up with related institutions to hold 20 professional seminars and new product launch press conferences.

Full Slate of Events, Awards
A full slate of inter-active events during TIMTOS boosted links and trading prospects. These included the TIMTOS 2011 – Trade Meeting, Press Conference, TIMTOS 2011, and Reception for TIMTOS 2011, as well as the Ceremony of Taiwan Machine Tool Industry Awards for Excellence in Research & Innovation.
Meanwhile, the 5th Taiwan Machine Tool Industry Awards for Excellence in Research & Innovation (jointly organized by TMTF <the Taiwan Machine Tool Foundation>, TAITRA, and TAMI) continued to encourage machine tool manufacturers to heighten their R&D efforts to increase product value and enhance overall competitiveness on the global market.
Thirty products from 27 companies were short-listed in final rounds of the Contest of Taiwan Machine Tool Industry Awards for Excellence in Research & Innovation organized by Taiwan Machine Tool Foundation (TMTF).
In the fierce competition, WELE Mechatronic Co. won the Supreme Excellence Award with its vertical multi-tasking turning center VTC-2500H, which was promoted as being cost-effective, internationally competitive, completely Taiwan-made and ideal for customers in the wind energy and aerospace industries. Ping Jeng Machinery Industry Co. won the Grand Champion Award for the Machining Center category with its MCV-435μ High Precision Machining Center. Fair Friend Group won the Grand Champion Award for the NC Lathe category with its HT-30SY CNC Turning Center. CHMER EDM won the Grand Champion Award for the Other NC Machine Tools category with its P3020SL High Accuracy Low friction Micro feed quantity Wire-Cut EDM. All these products demonstrated the latest technologies and trends in the machine tool industry.
Worldwide Branches Attract the World of Buyers
To help Taiwanese machine tool manufacturers further expand operations in the global market, organizers mobilized 56 branches around the world to proactively invite leading buyers with annual sales topping U.S. $50 million to visit the exhibition.
The venue was packed with major buyers, including IBERA SEKI from Japan, MARUICHI CUTTING TOOLS from Japan, THOMAS SKINNER AND SON from Canada, MEGA ELEKTRONIK from Turkey, KAMI GROUP from Russia, BATEX from Ukraine, DANOBAT from Spain, TECNOR MACCHINE SPA from Italy, OVERMACH S.P.A. from Italy, TECNOMAGNETE SPA from Italy and RAMPF FORMEN GMBH from Germany.
Other invited visitors included Russian Machine Tool Manufacturing Association, SWISS MEM, Turkey’s Association of Machinery Manufacturers (MIB), Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association, Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association, Korea Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association, China Machine Tool & Tool Builders' Association, China Forging Industry Association, Sichuan Die & Mould Industry Association, and the Machinery Association of NanJing County.

A full selection of machine tools and related components were on display at the 15th TIMTOS, across the respective venues, as follows:
- TWTC Hall 1 chiefly exhibited CAD/CAM systems and software, quality control and measurement equipment, automation and control devices, machine tool components and accessories, tools, cutters, jigs, fixtures, pipes and wire processing machinery, sheet metal processing machinery, and welding equipment.
- TWTC Hall 2 paraded molding equipment, presses, shearing machines, press brakes, and forging equipment.
- TWTC Hall 3 showcased cutting machine tools, machine tool components and accessories, cutters, jigs, and fixtures.
- NANGANG Exhibition Hall displayed cutting machine tools, industrial robots, the Swiss Pavilion, international associations, and media from the machinery industry.
