Bern, Switzerland – Offering customers the best quality in both products and services – this is a key principle of all company brands of the UNITED GRINDING Group. In order to achieve this goal continually for the long term, the Group has developed the PuLs program, which optimizes all internal processes for the benefit of its customers.
With PuLs, the UNITED GRINDING Group aims to eliminate all waste and optimize internal procedures and production processes further.
"We want to avoid all activities in our value creation chain, which do not bring any benefit for the customer," says Heinz Poklekowski, financial director of the UNITED GRINDING Group.
Waiting times, surpluses, and unnecessary movement of materials – these are classic examples of inefficient production. With a mix of measures individually developed for the Group, comprising methods from process optimization and quality management concepts, the UNITED GRINDING Group aims to avoid all types of waste and increase overall efficiency.
"PuLs is a customized concept, not an off-the-peg solution," says Michael Horn, COO of the United Grinding Group AG.
All employees of the company brands of the UNITED GRINDING Group have received training in the basic principles of the PuLs program since May 2013. Each individual must support the program and critically examine their workplace. The resulting optimization measures can extend from the efficient reorganization of a complete production process through to the restructuring of an individual working environment.
"The key factor in this program is our employees, to whom we want to communicate PuLs in the form of a comprehensive training program. The benchmark of this program is the benefit which it generates for our customers," states Heinz Poklekowski, CFO.
"PuLs is not so much a program but rather a company philosophy," Poklekowski continues. “It therefore has no end date, but is work in progress. It should be seen as an inner attitude, a way of thinking, which is aimed at permanent improvement and increased customer benefit.”
"The essence of PuLs," Horn says, "is that people play a central part in it – both our employees and our customers."
