The strategic direction for Sandvik Manufacturing Solutions, a business area segment of Sandvik, is to focus on software and software-enabling hardware solutions to help customers automate and optimize their manufacturing processes. As a result, the ZeroTouch business unit has been established.
ZeroTouch is dedicated to delivering advanced automated industrial measurement solutions to provide real-time actionable data. With its high-speed, high-accuracy, non-contact multi-sensor, and multi-cloud configurable Metrology in Motion platform, it provides real-time data throughout various stages of the customer manufacturing process. This creates a dynamic feedback loop for continuous process control, leading to advanced process optimization. As a result, operational efficiency is enhanced by eliminating non-value-added activities, positively impacting the reduction of the cost of goods sold.
The company is poised to make a significant impact in the high-volume, near-line, and in-line applications in automotive, medical, micromachining, and industries where 100% inspection of mission-critical components is required. Allowing customers to shorten tasks and reduce impacts of deployment, asset and labor costs.
"With industry 4.0 and smart factories, the global manufacturing industry is undergoing fundamental changes. To improve efficiency, metrology is moving from quality assurance rooms, near-process to in-line and in-situ metrology. Rather than a separate inspection process, metrology is and will be part of closed-looped manufacturing. ZeroTouch aspires to play a leading role in enabling more efficient and sustainable manufacturing through automated and connected solutions,” says Zvonimir Kotnik, ZeroTouch president.
