Bull Nose Live Machining Center

Dorian Heavy Duty Live Centers

Designed for heavy duty turning applications, the new Dorian heavy duty live centers feature heavy duty tapered bearings instead of the commonly used ball bearings. Tapered bearings are used in the design of lathe headstocks to support the spindle right behind the chuck. They are the most heavy duty bearing type to support radial and axial forces. Dorian live centers allow for higher tool pressures, interrupted cuts and workpiece weights up to 19,000lb. Dorian heavy duty live centers are available in Morse Taper 2 to Morse Taper 6 sizes. All heavy duty live centers have an additional thrust bearing and two roller bearings, making them quad-bearing live centers. This choice of bearings allows Dorian live centers to outlast any competitor’s equivalent live center.

Built for the petroleum industry, Dorian Tool’s Bull Nose system consists of a heavy duty bull nose live center or dead center and modular interchangeable bull nose heads. There are 11 bull nose heads covering pipe diameters ranging from 1.77” to 23.64”. Bull nose live centers or dead centers are available in Morse Taper 3 to Morse Taper 6 sizes. Like the heavy duty live centers, all bull nose live centers feature a heavy duty tapered roller bearing at the front of the live center, a thrust bearing and two roller bearings at the end to support a maximum work-piece weight of 19,000lb.
