Tools for versatility, hard machining
Richfield, Wisconsin – The Carmex Precision Tools exhibit in Booth #431480 at IMTS 2018 will showcase tooling designed for multitasking, as well as a new series of diamond turning inserts for hard machining.
Carmex’s Multi-Function Milling Tool (MMT), designed for economy, versatility, and superior cutting performance, can be used for a wide variety of applications, including spotting and drilling, side milling, chamfering, slotting, grooving, and engraving. The ultra-fine carbide construction assures stability and wear resistance, as well as excellent surface finish.
The recently introduced MT Drill combines drilling, chamfering, and thread milling in a single operation that reduces cycle times and eliminates tool changing. Constructed of solid carbide, the two-fluted drill/thread milling cutter with 45-degree chamfering can generate both right- and left-hand internal threads and can be used for blind or through-hole drilling. Featuring internal coolant and constructed of optimized carbide, the MT Drill is excellent for aluminum and cast-iron applications and produces a high-quality thread surface.
In response to the growing requirement for hard machining capabilities, Carmex has introduced new diamond CBN and PCD turning inserts. CBN inserts deliver high precision performance while maintaining excellent surface finish in hardened and heat-treated steels up to 72HRc, high speed steel (HSS), high alloyed steels hardened to 45HRc and higher, super Ni based alloys, grey cast iron, ductile, and graphite. The PCD inserts excel in non-ferrous, plastic, and composite applications. Available in one and two cutting edge configurations, Carmex diamond inserts deliver higher performance and longer tool life.
