FTV Manual Vertical Mills

Vertical Mills

The FTV line of manual vertical mills incorporates a number of design elements to ensure rigidity and stability during machining. These include Meehanite main castings; wide saddles; an air-cooled, two-speed motor; a 3 3/8” quill that is hard-chromed and uses a ground rack; and high-nickel-content lead screws that are rolled and ground. The heads on the FTV mills can tilt 45° forward and backward, and swivel 90-degree to both the left and right. A flood coolant system is standard on all FTV models.

FTV mills are available in table sizes including 44” x 10”, 55¼” x 10” and 58” x 11”. Handles for table locks are spring-loaded to allow repositioning once locked, clamping the table to the saddle rather than pushing on the gib to keep the saddle from distorting when locked.
Five FTV-2 models with Newall digital readouts are in use at All American Racers, to help manufacture a one-third-scale model of the “DeltaWing” 2012 Le Mans race car for wind tunnel testing.
