At the upcoming MD&M West show in Anaheim, in booth 1628, Guill Tool will introduce and demonstrate its new Unicam crosshead. The name derives from a combination of advancements made to two of the company’s most tried and true technologies: the Single-Point concentricity adjustment system and the Cam-Lock fastener-free assembly system.

On the front of the head, the new Universal Adjustment system allows the user to choose either the traditional 4-bolt method of concentricity adjustment or the Single-Point style of concentricity adjustment. To switch from traditional to Single-Point operation, simply remove the four locking bolts that hold the adjustment ring in place. If an application requires very fine adjustments, optional Micro-Adjust screws are available.

Unicam enables much faster changeover or disassembly for head cleaning and purging. Significant reduction in these time-consuming operations will allow increased run time and profits from the lines. This design is available on most Guill heads for medical applications.

Other highlights at the show will include the company’s unique reciprocal tubing head, which alters the internal profile during the extrusion process, thereby eliminating the need for welded sections of wound drain tubing, for example. Plus, Guill will show its range of multi-layer and multi-lumen tubing heads, its diverse offering of medical tubing and profile heads, as well as its state-of-the-art labs for rheology and test extrusion, where companies can sample new formulae and actually extrude product from it.
