At IMTS 2014 Okuma will introduce its new HJ-250E-T horizontal CNC lathe. This machine offers many of the advantages of the company’s GENOS lathe series plus a FANUC control, providing an affordable, entry-level lathe with exceptional flexibility. Built on a one-piece, cast iron base with a horizontal way system and hand-scraped headstock and tailstock mounting surfaces, this machine provides stability, rigidity and accuracy for a variety of applications. Utilizing a standard 8" chuck, at IMTS this CNC lathe will be shown cutting an automotive wormshaft using ISCAR tooling, a member of Partners in THINC. The part will then be passed to the Okuma GA26T II cylindrical grinding for finishing.
