The ROSS Model PDDM-10 Planetary Dual Disperser is a near-universal pilot scale mixer designed to deliver high shear and controlled planetary agitation under vacuum, enabling rapid solids dispersion and producing air-free, high-quality pastes, slurries, gels, and putties. It can also handle powder blending, granulation, and vacuum drying requirements. This mixer processes up to 12 gallons per batch with a full holding capacity of 15 gallons.
The independently controlled dual agitator drive system combines low-speed planetary agitation with high-speed shear for maximum mixing efficiency. Two stainless steel high viscosity planetary stirrers, powered by a 5HP motor, provide thorough turnover of thick, sticky, and highly viscous materials. Complementing this mixing action are two high-speed dispersers, driven by a 15HP motor and capable of speeds from 500rpm to 3,540rpm, ensuring rapid powder incorporation and efficient deagglomeration.
Vacuum mixing up to 29.5" Hg minimizes air entrapment and enhances finished product quality. The stainless steel type 304 vacuum hood features two 3" sight/charge ports and is fully removable for easy access and cleaning.
The change can design accommodates interchangeable mix cans which can be equipped with heating/cooling jacket, thermowell, and any preferred valve style. A detachable sidewall scraper with replaceable Teflon blade is mounted to the planetary gearbox and continuously wipes vessel surfaces, improving batch uniformity and heat transfer.
An air/oil hydraulic lift with two-hand safety controls raises and lowers the mixing head, while safety limit switches prevent operation unless the vessel is properly positioned. The operator panel is customizable and typically includes a touchscreen for independent agitator control, speed and cycle time displays, vacuum pump control, load monitoring and temperature display. Standard safety features include motor protection, main disconnect with lockout, and Emergency Stop pushbutton.
