
Schaumburg, IL – January 9, 2017 – Plustech Inc., the North American Branch of Sodick’s IMM Division, has announced their participation in MD&M West, Feb. 7-9, 2017, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Plustech will have a live demonstration, using their cutting-edge technology, of medical micro-molding with an automated cell in booth 4071.
They will feature the Sodick GL30 micro-injection molding machine performing a microfluidic molding process, with micro details in the part. The mold will be supplied by Plustech’s customer, Plas-Tech Engineering, based out of Lake Geneva, WI. The molded material will be Topas COC material 8007x10. The automation will be supplied by Star Automation. This will include a side-entry robot that will remove the part from the mold.
The Sodick GL30 is a high-performance model that offers excellent repeatability and accurate plasticization. The machine provides advanced injection for micro features with extremely tight tolerances. It includes Sodick’s V-Line two-stage plunger system, which separates the plasticization and injection processes for consistent measurement and injection of the melt stream. The 30-ton machine incorporates a true hybrid clamping mechanism utilizing an upgraded servo motor controlled hydraulic pumping system.
